Be The Best That You Can Be

When you're young, you often hear phrases like "be the best you can be!" They're the kinds of cliched platitudes that can often make you want to roll your eyes as just how lame and trite they are. But there's one thing that most of us miss about those kinds of cliches, and it's that they become cliched for a reason. The reality is that there is always a little more than just a grain of truth sitting at the heart of any cliche and when you read the phrase "be the best you can be", it's worth thinking about it for a moment. We're all taught to compete with each other, to be better, fitter, more attractive, more successful. But the truth is that there's only one person that you really need to work hard for: yourself. If you spend yourself comparing yourself to others, then you're going to end up miserable. With that in mind, here are a few ways you really can start to become the best you that you can be.

Be confident

Confidence is one of those things that some people seem to have in spades while others lack altogether. Well, the truth is that everyone has the capacity for confidence, it just takes a little effort to make that happen. Plenty of people use clothes and makeup to feel more confident, while others end up needing something a little more significant to feel the way that they want to. Of course, visiting plastic surgeons is entirely valid if you feel the need to do that in order to feel confident, but obviously, it's not everyone's cup of tea. There are plenty of other things that you can do in order to bring your confidence levels up; the important thing is that you find whatever it is that works for you.

Live by your principles

Far too often, many of us end up living in a way that doesn't really line up with what we believe. This is a shame, but it's also kind of understandable. After all, life has a habit of getting in the way a lot of the time, and it's not always easy to do the right thing when your options are limited. However, if you don't live in accordance with any of your personal principles, you can end up feeling pretty miserable a lot of the time. The best thing to do is to figure out which areas of your life you're willing to compromise on and which you're not. That way you can be sure that you can live your life the way you want, without sacrificing what's really important.

Of course, it's important to remember that this kind of thing isn't a journey with a strict goal, it's a process. It's the kind of thing that you could well spend your entire life working towards. And sure, there are going to be setbacks, but as long as you're always putting in the right amount of effort, you'll find that you're much happier with who you are and with everything that you do.
